Life can be incredibly complex and overwhelming, full of twists and turns we often do not expect. As both a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a human being with lived experience, I have witnessed how receiving therapeutic support can guide us towards building a new sense of safety and comfort in a world that is constantly changing. Whether you are struggling with an eating disorder, body image concerns, trauma, depression, anxiety, substance use, or relational wounding, I am eager to create a space with you where you can feel acknowledged, uplifted, and hopeful.
My therapeutic approach involves examining how both past and present life experiences can shape our experience of ourselves, other people, and the world around us. I place emphasis on supporting my clients in identifying their values as an avenue for beginning to feel like more authentic and embodied versions of themselves. I guide my clients in learning new ways to tolerate uncomfortable emotions instead of avoiding or numbing them, and create space to process the inevitable grief that comes with making any changes in life. I am currently a student in my Beginning Year of becoming a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner via Somatic Experiencing International, and am particularly excited about utilizing my new learnings to support individuals who have struggled to make desired changes via traditional talk therapy. I am a fierce advocate for anti-diet living and the Health At Every Size framework, and am passionate about finding ways to make therapy feel safe and accessible to all individuals regardless of race, class, gender, and sexuality. I believe that therapy is political, and that acknowledging how the systems we live in actively serve as a foundation for shaping our mental health is essential to this work.
As a therapist, I embody humor, authenticity, curiosity, and creativity. Values I hold above all else include celebrating individual strengths, autonomy, collaboration between client and therapist, and the power of ‘any positive change’. When I am not practicing therapy, I delight in volunteering and fostering with my local animal rescue, connecting with the more-than-human world out in nature, reading creepy horror books, and trying to convince everyone I know why they should consider becoming a birder.
